—my fall playlist essentials
Written By : Annalisa Frumento
Every fall I try to optimize the cozy autumnal vibes as much as possible. I mean… how could anybody not fall in love with the season? Long walks after many hours of studying are much needed in the months of October and November with midterm season, and there are a few songs that my walks would not be complete without. So let’s get into my ten fall playlist essentials.
The Dress, Dijon
Dijon has such a distinct calming voice, that makes you want to daydream as you look into the trees. The production of this song is soft and his voice just glides through the melodies. A great cover of this song by Olivia Dean is also on spotify and I recommend giving it a listen!
2. Friday I’m in Love, The Cure
This song is one of the epic greats, that cannot be disputed. The lyrics are light (despite this song being from THE gothic band) and the song pleasantly playing while wandering on crunchy leaves is just so perfect.
3. Don’t Dream It’s Over, Crowded House
Now, this song was popular amongst most of our parents’ generation, and is definitely spinning back around. Whether it can be attributed to the trend cycle or the fact that it went insanely viral on tiktok after Monster: The Menendez Brothers short series by Ryan Murphy, this song deserves the hype.
4. Cowboy Like Me, Taylor Swift
Evermore by Taylor Swift is THE seasonal album for the later fall months. The aesthetic of the album relies on fall imagery, and Cowboy Like Me is such an underrated track from this album!
5. Angie, The Rolling Stones
The guitar in this song is so gentle it could put me to sleep. Although this song is not super popular with my generation, I always find rock ballads super relaxing, and perfect for a brisk day.
6. Sitting In Traffic, Ruel
This song is the yearning song for me. Falltime screams love and also melancholy for me, and this song is so perfect for that vibe. Ruel as an artist should be so much more popular!
7. Love Of My Life, Queen
I said it before, but soft rock is totally the perfect genre for fall. This song is great for easy daydreaming in the park.
8. Revival, Zach Bryan
I might be the only one who thinks this, but I'm sure I'm not when I say that country music just feels like fall. Something about the accent and the instruments makes me want to ride a horse and go on a hayride. This song is so great for this season.
9. Stick Season, Noah Kahan
Maybe this one is a bit too on the nose… But hey, this song is popular for a reason! I absolutely adore everything Noah Kahan has ever come out with and this song is no exception. The song is about the seasons changing and the idea of “stick season” especially in the northeast is so comfortable and relatable!
10. Where You Lead, Carole King
I mean… I have really saved the best for last here. This song is famously the intro and theme song of Gilmore Girls which I have stated in a previous article is my favorite fall watch. What a perfectly encapsulating song off seasons changing and being in love!
