—let’s talk costumes

This year I have three costumes…me? Overboard? Never! It’s halloweekend where the stars perfectly align for a weekend full of costume adorned extravaganzas. I usually keep my costumes a secret, but in case you need inspiration; I’ll be a showgirl on Thursday, a black cat on Friday, and Lionel Messi on Saturday! There is a pressure to do lots of costumes especially because of the oversaturation of costumes and “get ready with me” type content on social media. My advice is to just do what’s most fun! If you want to be what you want to be every night, or even no nights, you better work it!
According to google, last year's top hits for popular halloween costumes ranged from Sabrina Carpenter, to Shrunken Head Bob from Beatlejuice. Among the top ranked was also Wolverine and Ladypool. The trends definitely follow cultural relevance. Sabrina Carpenter had a huge 2025 with her short and sweet tour, and cemented her signature look with the heart cutout dress. Beetlejuice and Deadpool and Wolverine were huge movies from the year as well, so there is no surprise there with the amount of costumes that came from it. Same with 2023, as lots of people decided to go as Barbie and Ken, popularized by the Barbie movie, directed by Greta Gerwig. I went as Wolverine last year actually, and was super happy with it. It was funny and trendy!
For this year, I have some popular predictions of my own. I feel like we are going to see MANY showgirls, given the achievement of the new Taylor Swift album. (Myself included… stay tuned!) There will definitely be Labubus, Victoria's Secret Angels, and many a Clark Kent at the parties this year! I honestly would not be surprised if I ran into a few Carrie Bradshaws! But of course you can never go wrong with a classic like a Ladybug or a Cat.
Whether you’re a trend follower or not, there is no such thing as a bad Halloween costume. Halloween is in my opinion the best night of the year.
