—Western Chic; A journey from a City Girl
Written By : Annalisa Frumento
Let me set the record straight, I am no stranger to Frye boots and leather. I am a girl, of course I have a shoe and jacket obsession! Stetson hats and George Strait is where I get a little lost though… I am too comfortable in such a dark aesthetic and am longing for western elements in my wardrobe.
I have been in a phase of experimentation with my style, and eventually both of these aesthetics will become part of my personal style, which is an amalgamation of every clothing style I have really ever liked. How I can explain the difference between western and city is like this; biker leather versus ranch denim. More nichely, western chic is Free People, and city chic is Reformation. See girls, now does it make more sense?
Let’s talk about denim. For me, denim has only ever strictly come in the form of jeans. I have not totally ventured into jackets made from denim, or honestly many different styles of denim jeans. I am a simple girl, and my Levi 501s have lasted me this long. I mean, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it! As I have ventured out more though, I have been totally entranced by some of the denim jackets I’ve found. I started with the tried and true, Revolve for some semblance of trends before venturing to specific brands. I stumbled upon the Denim Trucker Jacket from Tecovas and was instantly obsessed. There is not an out of my comfort design on it, the fit is just right and it just feels like the perfect ‘gateway’ into my aesthetic exploring journey.
Speaking of Stetson though… I am not sure I am ready to rock the cowboy hat, it may take me a while to work up the courage. For now I am content with my denim exploration and my Free People fringe! It’s no indie sleeze or model off-duty that I’m used to… but I’m excited to keep expanding my wardrobe with elements that are really exciting to me, it's a perfect way to make sure that my personal style gets fostered.
