—Getting Ready. More Fun Than The Event?

Written By : Annalisa Frumento

No, you don’t look ugly in red because of your skintone, and yes you should curl your hair if you’re gonna wear that necklace.

There is a sort of art that lies somewhere between sharing lipstick and swapping hair tools before a night out with your best friends that often gets overlooked. A glass of wine, some pop music and a mirror with your friends next to you is the formula to start off a great night.

The girls need to preserve their community! Feminine spaces are super important, this is not just because we hype each other up. A night out can be pretty intimidating, and being comfortable leading up to an event can make all of the difference. Before even the pregame begins, it is essential that getting ready together occurs. I mean let’s face it, the getting ready process is full of second guessing and near crashouts. When my friends are with me though, we become voices of reason for one another. Getting ready alone can be comfortable, sure, but doing it with somebody else preps the night! A playlist of favorite songs, creating “missions” for the night and pure sisterhood is so much fun.

How we start the night is a precursor to how we end it. If I get ready alone, I am most always listening to Ethel Cain and thinking about that guy who won’t text me back… But when I’m with my girls I am energetic and excited to go out with them, it feels really healing and vibrant to have that energy around me.

What you put into the world is what you get out of it. Although such a statement may seem too deep and philosophical for a topic like a pregame… it is very relevant. The intention of a good night sets up the mindset for you and those around you. You deserve to have a good time, why not optimize your experience with your friends? My favorite part of any outing is definitely laughing and trading bronzer with my best friend beforehand while chatting about who we might see out that night. These moments are so special and so underappreciated! So, pack your bags (and make sure you bring me some dry shampoo) we’re getting ready at my place tonight!
