The Art of Feeling Your Best This Summer
Written By : Hannah Corbett
Summer is a feeling. It’s more than just longer days and warmer nights—it’s freedom, possibility, and that sense of connection to both the world around you and to yourself. For me, it’s always been about moments that stick: those lazy beach days, the spontaneous late-night food runs with my boyfriend, and long, laughter-filled afternoons with my sister that linger long after the sun sets. But this year, I’m embracing something deeper—something that’s become more important than ever: the art of feeling my best while living my best summer life.
Living by the beach has its obvious perks, but it also means managing some of the inevitable challenges—particularly when it comes to the effects of saltwater and sun on my hair and skin. I’m a natural brunette, but I’ve always loved a few face-framing highlights to soften my features. The beach life and that salty air definitely doesn’t do my hair any favors. Every fall, without fail, I find myself scrambling for a toner to bring back that perfect, sun-kissed brightness. While I love the effortless beachy look, I’ve learned that a little maintenance can go a long way in keeping my strands from looking too fried. I’ve always been partial to a good bouncy blowout, but lately, I’ve been letting my hair grow out and embracing its natural curl. It’s been a rewarding process—healthier, shinier, and stronger hair that feels as good as it looks. There’s something so satisfying about letting go of the blow-brush and just letting my waves free.
When it comes to skincare, I’m all about simplicity. For the past couple of years, I’ve been hooked on Hailey Bieber’s Rhode Glazing Milk. It was my go-to for that perfect glow, morning and night. But recently, I made the switch to Laneige’s Milk Toner, and honestly, It’s just as good—if not better. It leaves my skin dewy and plump, but it feels lighter and absorbs quicker than the Glazing Milk. As for my nightly routine, collagen face masks from Loops have become my must-have. They’ve seriously made a difference, and I look forward to them as a small moment of self-care each night.
I’ve also come to realize that my wardrobe needs a serious update. There’s something liberating about letting go of pieces you’ve outgrown and replacing them with things that make you feel like you’re stepping into your best self. Whether it’s a fresh pair of shorts, a supportive bra, or a bikini that gives me the comfort to actually enjoy the beach, I’m ready for a closet refresh. I’m even eyeing a new beach bag to replace the Vera Bradley one I’ve carried for way too many summers.
Summer to me is also about movement. Growing up dancing I always was in dance camp, or going on runs with my best friend, hiking with my mom. And no one talks about how hard it is to transition from high school athlete to adulthood. My way of moving now starts with morning walks. It’s the simple rhythm of getting my body moving and feeling connected to everything around me. Pilates classes with a friend have added another layer of energy to my days, and I can already feel the difference in my body.
For me, summer is more than a season—it’s a mindset. It’s about shedding the weight of the year, soaking up the sun, and fully inhabiting each moment. As I dive into this summer, I’m choosing to live with intention: focusing on self-care, making space for those little updates that make me feel good, and embracing the simplicity of what makes life beautiful. This season isn’t about perfection; it’s about being grounded, confident, and free—ready to make the most of every moment. Summer is about looking and feeling your best, from the inside out, and embracing a season that’s just as much about self-love as it is about living fully.
