Spring Reads to Get You Feeling Flirty, and Ready for the Sun!

Written By : Hannah Corbett

The sun has been setting later and the temperature is getting higher, and it’s been getting me in the mood to settle into a good, long story that occupies my mind.  There’s nothing like a juicy, sun-soaked book to get you in the summer mood. Whether you’re lounging by the pool, sipping coffee at a sidewalk café, or dreaming of your next beach getaway (or summer fling). The right book can set the perfect tone for a season filled with romance, adventure, and pure fun. From flirty rom-coms to breezy escapist fiction, these books will have you turning pages. I’ve read them all, but these 5 books are wrapped around my summer heart, and I'm due for a re-read soon.

1. Happy Place by Emily Henry

No summer reading list is complete without Emily Henry. In Happy Place, exes forced to share a vacation house with their closest friends for one last trip will have you hooked from the first page. With sizzling chemistry, nostalgic summer vibes, and heartwarming friendships, it’s the ultimate beach read. Or wherever you are.

2. The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

Don't even get me started. This YA classic is a MUST if you love sun-soaked coming-of-age stories with a love triangle that will keep you guessing. The tension in between the lines, the summer nights, CONRAD.  This book series is so good, and it doesn't even really strike me as a YA.  To be honest it gets pretty steamy.  Read the books before you watch the show, and Jenny Han if you’re reading, Yes, I would LOVE to come to the season 3 premiere party.

3. Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

You will want to live in California after you read this book.  Set in the glamorous world of 1980s Malibu, this novel follows the unforgettable Riva family as they throw their legendary end-of-summer party. Packed with drama, family secrets, romance, and vintage Hollywood charm, this book is perfect for anyone craving an indulgent, nostalgic summer read.  I also made a surf rock playlist to have on in the background while reading, it was perfect.

4. The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

Enemies-to-lovers, a free Hawaiian honeymoon, and laugh-out-loud moments? Need I say more? This is THE perfect mix of humor, heat, and heartfelt moments—ideal for a summer fling with a book.

5. People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry

Two Words. Slow. Burn. This one’s for the lovers. Following two best friends who take annual summer trips together, this novel is packed with witty banter, slow-burn romance, and enough wanderlust to inspire your next getaway.
