Embracing the Season of Growth: Spring as a Mindset
Written By : Grace Wedienhamer
The weather is getting warmer, flowers are blooming, and the world is slowly becoming more colorful. If you haven’t already, I’m sure you’re gearing up to start your spring cleaning; decluttering your space, your mind, and your life. The beginning of spring brings new possibilities, new beginnings, and hope that good things are coming. Not only is spring a season, it’s also a mindset.
We think of the word “spring” as a noun. Yes, it’s the season that comes after winter and before summer. It’s even a type of metal coil that can be pressed or pulled and returns to its former shape when released. But spring is also a verb. To move or jump rapidly forward or upward. To arise from.
You may be feeling a shift in your energy with the changing of the seasons. You may decide now is the time to enter a new era of your life or finally start on those pesky New Year's resolutions. You may want to shake the winter off and declutter your space. Just as in nature, we as humans have a mental spring.
Spring resembles growth, embracing change, and leaving what doesn’t serve us anymore. I, myself, am going through a lot of changes in my life, a lot of which can be pretty scary. But, just as nature blossoms after a long and challenging winter, so will I.
Spring is something to be romanticized. Not just for the pretty colors and the warm breeze. For the reminder that we as humans are always evolving, and even in eras of darkness, we can always look forward to our spring. Just as the wildflowers are taking over, sprouting in the most unlikely of places, we too can let life lead us to sprout in unlikely places and blossom into something beautiful and unique.
So, as our lives become busier with sports games, weddings, birthdays, work deadlines, and the unspoken pressure to accomplish it all, I invite us all to embody the mindset of spring; to embrace change, welcome new opportunities, take a leap of faith, and let life lead you towards your inevitable season of booming.
