The weather is calling for snow on Christmas Day, and I’m calling for tiramisu. If there’s one thing I know for certain, it’s that no matter where the year has taken me, the holiday season isn’t complete without this creamy, coffee-dusted indulgence. For the past eight years, tiramisu has become more than just dessert in my home—it’s a ritual. It’s the kind of tradition that brings the day to life, and it keeps me busy after all the presents are opened and the day before as well.
While tiramisu is my pride and joy of my Christmas Day, it’s not the only tradition that fills my day. Christmas is a mosaic of small, intentional rituals that, when combined, create a perfect snapshot of the holiday. Here are a few of my fsvorite traditions that I look forward to every year.
1. Tiramisu, Year Eight. (Of course)
When it comes to Christmas, my kitchen is where the magic happens—and tiramisu is the alchemy. For eight years, I’ve perfected the art of this Italian classic. I follow Giada Dilarentis recipe, and I’ve gotten to the point where I dont even need to look at the book to remember what to do. There’s an elegance in simplicity, and making tiramisu each year reminds me of every year before when I’ve made it. It’s not just about the final product—it’s about creating something myself and everyone enjoys.
2. Christmas Movies allllll day long
You know those films that define the holidays? For me, it’s Elf, It’s a Wonderful Life, Love Actually, Home Alone 1 & 2 and, of course, The Holiday. Watching these classics is more than just a pastime; it’s an experience of nostalgia. The glow of the Christmas tree lights and familiar sounds of christmas.
3. Crafting Holiday Magic.
This year, I’m embracing my inner artisan by crafting something to mark the season. Whether it’s a handmade ornament or a thoughtfully arranged holiday table, there’s something sooo satisfying about creating something personalized. These crafted moments are what make Christmas feel so uniquely yours.
4. Driving around looking at the Christmas Lights on Houses
My last and maybe favorite tradition is driving around to look at houses dressed up in christmas decorations. Me and my sister go around rating the houses in our neighborhood and town. After dessert is done, family leaves and before we watch Elf at the end of the night. It’d kind of the best way to end the Christmas season.
