Wellness Rituals I'm Leaning Into

Written By : Jacqueline Rappa

I recently took a trip to Tulum, Mexico, and in just a few days, I was reminded of how much intentional rituals truly support my well-being. Most of my time there was spent resting, and it became clear how much my body and mind had been craving a slower pace. Beyond soaking up the sun and swimming in the ocean, I found space to reconnect with myself through healing practices and crystals.

This trip helped me tune back into what makes me feel balanced. Below are a few habits I’ve felt inspired to keep weaving into my routine since coming home – ones that have helped me feel more grounded and in touch with myself.

Mindful Meditations

While I was in Tulum, I took part in a full moon meditation on the beach. I laid back in the sand, listened to a guided meditation, and let the ocean breeze wash over me. I remember closing my eyes just as the sun was setting, and by the time I opened them 45 minutes later, the sky was dark and the full pink moon was glowing above. It felt like a reset.

I don’t always have the time for meditations like that in my everyday life, but I’ve started integrating shorter ones where I can, whether it’s a 10-minute guided session in the morning or a walking meditation in the middle of the day. I recently downloaded the Plum Village app, which has meditations, deep relaxation exercises, and other simple practices to help bring mindfulness into the everyday.

Journaling

Back in March, I challenged myself to journal every single day for the whole month. I successfully accomplished this, even carrying it into the first week of April. But as life got busier, it slowly slipped from being a daily habit. That said, I didn’t completely let it go. I still found time to journal throughout the month – not every day, but enough that, on the days I did, I felt a real sense of calm and clarity. I’ve realized I don’t need to journal daily, but I also can’t ignore it altogether. When I do, my thoughts start to pile up and feel overwhelming.

Daily Tea

A warm cup of peppermint tea at night has been such a small but impactful habit. It’s soothing, comforting, and comes with added benefits like supporting digestion and easing stress. It’s become a ritual I genuinely look forward to and helps me wind down in a way that leads to a more peaceful night and, in turn, a more grounded morning.

As someone who usually has at least two cups of coffee a day, I’ve started swapping that second cup for green tea occasionally. It’s a subtle change, but I’ve noticed it makes a difference in how my body feels. It’s been gentler on my system and a nice support for my metabolism, too.
