The “It Girl” Shoes of the Season

Written By : Grace Weidenhamer

At my Kindergarten graduation, my teacher awarded me the superlative of “Best Shoe Game” (or something along those lines). Back then, it wasn’t exactly a challenge—all I had to do was pick out the brightest, sparkliest pair from the children’s section. Now, in my twenties, finding the perfect balance between mature and chic versus youthful and trendy feels like a much bigger feat.

This dilemma led me to wonder: What are the “It Girl” shoes of the season for women in their twenties?

After plenty of research, I’ve rounded up a list of versatile shoes that can take you from the office to the farmer’s market to a night out with friends. These styles can do it all!

The Sporty-Chic Sneak

I love a good Adidas Samba as much as the next girl, but if yours have seen better days, it’s time to level up to the Samba’s effortlessly cool older cousin: the Adidas SL 72 OG. This season, sleek and minimalist sneakers are in, replacing the chunky, thick-soled styles that dominated in past years. The beauty of this sneaker? You can dress it up or down. Personally, I love the contrast of an athletic sneaker paired with dress pants for a polished yet effortless office look.

    The 2000s Dad Shoe

New Balance is having a major moment! You’ve probably spotted the iconic chunky gray-and-white dad sneakers on countless “hot girl walk” fits—and for good reason. They’re comfortable, timeless, and now being styled in fresh new ways. This season, expect to see them paired with jean shorts, feminine skirts, and wide-leg dress pants for a chic-meets-cozy aesthetic.

  • ●  Asics Gel 1130

  • ●  Nike V2K Run Sneaker

    Slink it back

I’ve always been a Mary Jane and ballet flat girl, so I couldn’t be happier that they’re back in style! This season, flats and heels are getting an elegant upgrade with slingback details. Especially for summer, expect to see more braided textures and mesh elements for a breezy, elevated bohemian feel.

  • ●  Sam Edelman Michaela Mary Jane Flat

  • ●  Dolce Vita Tameka Ballet Flats

  • ●  Free People Monet Mules

    Carrie Bradshaw Coded

Everyone deserves their Carrie Bradshaw moment! Kitten heels and peep-toe shoes are making a bold comeback, and I’m here for it. While I’ve always associated heels with business casual looks, I’m excited to see them being incorporated into everyday streetwear. The peep-toe heel is a great transitional option that can be dressed up for the office or styled casually for a night out.

    Similar styles to check out:

  • ●  Steve Madden Cary Heel

  • ●  Dolce Vita Camilo Heel

  • ●  Dolce Vita Sabela Heels

  • ●  Vince Camuto Lory Kitten Heel Sandal

    Cool girl clogs

While sneakers are slimming down, sandals and clogs are doing the opposite. As a Birkenstock girl at heart, I love that chunky clogs and platform sandals are the it shoes of the season. Whether you’re running errands or heading to brunch, these cool-girl picks will add effortless style to any look.

    Similar styles to check out:

  • ●  Anthropologie Seychelles Heeled Clogs

  • ●  American Eagle Bohemian Heeled Clog

  • ●  Free People Harbor Flatform Sandals

  • ●  Birkenstock Almina

A new season brings new trends, and I know the feeling of wanting all of them! But here’s your reminder: you don’t need to follow every trend to have great style. True It Girl energy comes from confidence and comfort, so wear what makes you feel your best.
