The Aura of Rhode: Why I Changed My Phone for a Lip Gloss
Written By : Hannah Corbett
Last year, I got a new phone—not because I needed better storage, or a clearer camera, or even because my old one was breaking.
No, I got a new phone because I wanted the Rhode phone case.
And I dont know why, but I never even bought it.
Maybe it was the panic of too many people wanting it. Maybe I convinced myself it would sell out before I even hit “Add to Cart.” But now..
Now there’s a lemon yellow version.
And I need it. Need.
I can’t really explain it. But I physically and emotionally need the phone case. I need the feeling it promises. I need to live in the world of Rhode.
Hailey Bieber knew what she was doing when she called it that. The world of Rhode. Because it’s not just skincare. It’s not just makeup. It’s an aura. I’ve used that term before when talking about Parke, but it’s true here too. Rhode is a mood. A setting. A cinematic universe.
It’s the idea of waking up and looking like a dewy, glazed, summery dream without even trying. Of grabbing your phone and having your lip product conveniently inside of it, like it’s just part of who you are now. Minimal, sporty and chic, practical, but perfectly branded.
I’ve always loved shopping.
Like mall-is-my-happy-place level. Still to this day, my favorite hobby is walking into a store and walking out with something new. There is no serotonin like it. The high of a fresh pair of jeans, a tank top that becomes your new personality.
So when something is marketed perfectly, like Rhode is, it just gets me.
And what makes Rhode so genius is that I don’t feel like I’m being sold to. I feel like I’m being invited.
And I’m not just saying that. Because I dont really care for what influencers are trying to sell to me. I rarely have slid up on a new pair of sunglasses that the latest girl is wearing. But let me be honest: this brand has me. Fully.
The pocket blush? I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s the best face product I own. If I was stranded on a deserted island, I’d bring:
Pocket blush
Glazing milk
Peptide lip
…That’s the starter pack.
Rhode isn’t just a brand. It’s a lifestyle, its an aura.
And if a yellow phone case gets me one step closer to that feeling?
I’ll take two.
