I’m Journaling Every Day in March—You Should Too

Written By : Jacqueline Rappa

Consistency. It’s truly the only way to form any habit and improve at something. I’ve been on and off with journaling since high school. I’ve only ever filled out all the pages of one journal, and I still have a long way to go with my current one. If I journaled every day—or even just a few times a week—I’d probably have stacks of filled journals by now, which is ultimately my goal. Even if I never go back and reread them, I crave having my feelings and experiences recorded on a tangible piece of paper, written by me.

So this month, I’ve taken on a journaling challenge. I will write in my journal every day—specifically in the evening—so I can reflect on my day. Lately, these 9-6 workdays feel all blended together, so it will be beneficial for me to remember what happens in my day-to-day and gain new reflections. Just five days in, I’ve already processed my thoughts and made sense of a lot of them, which is something I typically struggle with.

I don’t like forgetting parts of my day—like how my coffee tasted extra sweet or what my coworkers and I were giggling about at work. These small moments all make up my life, and I want to be able to recall them. Over the past few days, I’ve written about a day I spent with my parents, how a typical work-from-home day went for me, and the fun I had at happy hour. In all honesty, if I didn’t write these memories down, I’d forget them. And I probably will—but at least I know they’re recorded somewhere I can cherish.

If free writing feels challenging, I’ve found some prompts that can help. They’re also great to use alongside your daily reflections:

  • ●  Your favorite piece of media you’ve consumed so far in 2025.

  • ●  Spring cleaning—what are you getting rid of?

  • ●  Activities you’re looking forward to this spring.

  • ●  A dream you believe is within reach in the near future.

  • ●  If you had to sum up your day in one word, what would it be and why?
