Galentines Day: The Ultimate Guide to Celebrating Your Girl Gang in Style

Written By : Grace Weidenhamer

Galentine’s Day: a day to celebrate the power of girlhood and friendship - arguably the two most powerful forces in the world. As the great Leslie Knope puts it, “...it’s only the best day of the year.” This is the perfect opportunity to unleash your feminine energy and celebrate your closest gal pals. So, if you want to channel your inner Leslie Knope this year, here’s the ultimate guide to planning the greatest Galentine’s Day of all time:

Step 1: Lock down the location.

Decide whether you’re having everyone over to your place, or meeting at your local JJ’s Diner. It’s fun to get dressed up and go out on the town, but hosting a more intimate gathering gives you more opportunities to have the Galentine’s celebration of your dreams.

Step 2: Plan an activity.

Planning an activity for the main event helps curate a consistent vibe for the whole party. Whether you do a paint and sip, DIY custom charm necklaces, or make your own candles, knowing the activity gives you a plan, a vision, and a starting point to build the rest of the itinerary.

Step 3: Create a menu.

Unless your activity of the night is, in fact, a dinner party, you don’t need to hire a personal chef to create a five-course feast. Ask your friends to each bring an app, provide a charcuterie board, or bake some cookies. Bonus points if your snack or dessert pairs nicely with your activity or...

Step 4: Drink of the night.

Get creative with a custom cocktail or mocktail for everyone to share! Calories don’t count on Galentine’s Day, so break out your edible glitter, sprinkle rims, and strawberry syrup. There’s no shortage of recipes and inspo on Pinterest, so put your bartender hat on and have fun with it!

Step 5: Dress code.

Now that you know the location and activity of the night, come up with the dress code. Maybe you brace the cold and wear your best dress, or stay cozy inside in matching pj sets. Coordinated outfits help set the vibe and make for some really cute pics!

Step 6: Vibe curation.

Again, now that you know the location and activity, figure out how you want to decorate. Personally, I enjoy collecting affordable and unique glassware, tablecloths, and candle holders from my local thrift store. You don’t have to buy single-use decor for one night - make your own photo backdrop and tablescape with things you already have.

Step 7: The playlist.

Don’t be responsible for letting the vibes drop. Plan ahead and create a Galentine’s playlist that will keep you and your girls going all night! Compile songs from your favorite female artists and live out your DJ dreams.

Whether you’ve rented out a banquet hall or are hosting a last-minute get-together, just remember, this day is for the GIRLS! No matter what activity you plan or how extravagant the menu is, make sure your friends know how much you love and appreciate them. Let’s go girls!
