October Obsessions: Products, tv shows and more!

Written By : Kitty Murphy

I think it’s safe to say that this has been the fastest month of the year, maybe even the fastest October ever. You would think that would mean there was no time to gather a list of favorites for the month, but you would be wrong. I am a professional hyper fixator and when I love something whether it be products, meals, songs, you will know and I’ll make sure of it. To be honest with you, I always want to be the girl who makes monthly favorite videos on TikTok but I usually can’t seem to come up with anything that has changed since the last month. Despite this being the quickest month of my life, I surprisingly have a bunch of never before seen favorite things. I have curated a list of all my favorites from products to tv shows to small businesses. So buckle up because we have a lot to cover here.

Starting off strong with my favorite products of the month. I randomly found myself in a Victoria’s Secret a couple weeks ago and I came out with the Glazed Vanilla and Dream perfume. I have never really been a signature scent girl, I usually switch it up everyday but this has quickly become my signature scent. It’s super sweet but absolutely perfect for the colder months because it quite literally feels like a warm hug. And who would I be if I didn’t mention my favorite makeup products from Jones Road? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the Miracle Palette which includes a blush, bronzer, and highlighter has saved me too many times to count. It is just so fabulous, it’s dewey but it blends out like butter, I love it! I also recently switched my hair products to the Amika Normcore shampoo, conditioner and mask which I definitely would recommend. The mask specifically because it smells insane.

Moving on to tv shows, first on the list has to be Tell Me Lies which you can watch on Hulu (if you somehow haven’t watched it yet.) I haven’t been this obsessed with a show in AWHILE. It’s a very heavy show but it’s almost addictive. The only thing I didn’t like was how they would release one episode a week but I can’t blame them for that. I almost felt like I was a part of the friend group in the show which made the series of unfortunate events all the more heart wrenching. If you know me, you know I’m watching the new season of Love is Blind. I'm telling you this type of show is my guilty pleasure, I always find myself engulfed in the new seasons and I’m not mad about it. My favorite small business of the season is the one and only, Anna Katherine. Not only do I adore the owner, queen Katie herself, she truly makes the most amazing pieces. I would describe them as everyday essentials with a personal flare. She can do literally anything and we may or may not have something super special coming out together very soon 🤭 so stay tuned! I also absolutely adore By Zoya so much that I went to the popup in New York which was amazing. The owner, Zoya, is such a sweetheart she could not have been more kind and all of her pieces are handmade. My favorite thing is the tops with a heart in the back, I’ve loved them for years and I don’t see that changing anytime soon

Last but not least, some miscellaneous October favorites. Coming in at the top of the list is my camera which is a Sony ZV-1F. I am getting in the routine of vlogging for YouTube as much as possible because I THINK I am going to do Vlogmas this year since YouTube was in fact my first love. I’m talking unhealthy obsession but you should totally check out my channel, I actually posted a new video today, it’s just kitty-murphy! There’s a market near me called Tom Bailey’s and on weekends they will make homemade donuts-powdered and apple cider. If you ever find yourself at the Jersey Shore, do yourself a favor and get one of these donuts they taste like heaven. My last favorite is super random but smaller influencers, especially on YouTube. Don’t get me wrong, I still have my core favorites that will probably change but I just love seeing newer creators because hot take, I sometimes think they are more creative! This isn’t always the case but I just really enjoy the relatability. That’s it for my October Obsessions, this is definitely something I want to continue in the coming months!
