Influenced or Influencer(ed)
Written By : Molleigh Mae
With millions of influencers across social media platforms, deciding who to follow is completely up to us individually- and I think we forget this. Just because a particular influencer is “viral” consider why you follow them and what you gain from being influenced by them. Some creators promote products as if you “need” them, or “have to have” and I catch myself unfollowing over and over. I have found what works for me to not be “over influenced” and keep a realistic balance with my social media consumption. Following the “right” influencers can enrich your feed with valuable content, inspiration, and knowledge. Ask yourself, is this influencer inspiring me, or overwhelming me? It is easy to enjoy content or is it demotivating... dare I say unrealistic? And- are you catching yourself comparing their content to your life instead of feeling encouraged from it?
Feeling Creative, Not Overwhelmed
Today- social media is an everyday entertainment of some sorts and will most likely continue to be. Truly a person's world will be out of balance when they consume more than they create. This does not mean you need to become an influencer, or even post at all, I’m taking about what you do with your energy and your skills in the real world. Do you sit and save digital recipes, do you then take those recipes and create them? Content is meant to be consumed, we just need to be mindful about what we are consuming, and how that is motivating us to create in different spaces. Are you always talking, or do you also listen?
Follow Influencers that motivate you during your time on socials and ask yourself: Am I creating more than I consume?
Influencers that I enjoy and hope you do too!!
